Idioma

Ready when you are

The course

Units built round real situations. Each one: learn the words and the sentence frames, read and listen to a conversation, write a few true sentences of your own, then say it out loud against the clock. About fifteen to twenty minutes a unit.

Practise one context at a time

A round drawn from a single topic instead of the whole bank. The same levels and the same rules apply; only the pool changes. Topics live in topics.js and are a judgement, not a fact, so move anything that is filed wrongly.

Grammar

The points English speakers most often get wrong in Spanish, roughly in the order a course meets them. Open one to read it, then practise it as a quick drill. Tap any Spanish word for its meaning.

Verb endings

Three families, six tenses, five persons. Open a tense to see the endings against a real verb, then practise that table as cards. Latin American, so no vosotros. Tap any form to hear it.

The verbs that will not behave

Written out in full rather than worked out from a rule, because the point of an irregular is that the rule does not reach it.

Worth knowing

Saying it out loud

Spanish spelling tells you the sound, which English spelling does not. Learn these and you can read any word aloud, including ones you have never seen. Tap an example to hear it.

Add a word

Add a sentence

Wrap the target form in curly braces, for example Nosotros {comemos} a la una. The answer is filled in from the braces.

Totals

Sticking points

Words missed three times or more without coming good since. These come up about twice as often as the rest, and are shown again rather than just asked. Three right answers in a row and a word leaves this list.
